Staff and friends of GlitchFreeGaming and CalmDownTom are once again taking part in ThanksGamingDay. Last year the 24 hour gaming marathon event raised over £3000 for Yorkhill Children’s Charity, and we are once again supporting the charities work for our local sick kids hospital in Glasgow.
Yorkhill Children’s Charity provides and supports excellence in paediatric, obstetric and neonatal healthcare enhancing the treatment, care and wellbeing of children and their families through The Royal Hospital for Sick Children at Yorkhill and other hospital and community based services. This year the hospital will be moving from it’s 100 year home in Yorkhill, to the new Glasgow South Hospital Campus. With millions of patients set to pass through its doors in the years to come, the new children’s hospital provides extraordinary opportunities for Yorkhill Children’s Charity. They have already committed more than £5 million of enhanced equipment and services to the new children’s hospital.
Here are just a few of the projects that have already been set up in the new hosiptal:
- A ground breaking, innovative project with Glasgow Science Centre to enhance many of the hospital’s waiting areas
- Enhanced medical equipment
- Pull down beds for parents and carers
- Enhanced play rooms on every ward
- Stimulating and engaging outdoor spaces for patients and visitors alike
- A state of the art sensory room
But they need help raising funds for their continued work and so we are once against hosting our 24 hour Gaming For Good marathon. The theme this year is Back to the Classics, where we go back to the finest games ever made (that we didn’t play). Head over to our Just Giving team page, pick a member to support, and maybe suggest a classic game for them to play during the event! The event starts in a little of 24 hours (at time of publication) and we’ve raised over £1,500 so far. With your help we can get close to the same amount we raised last year.
